True Love (Alix)

One day, I will fall in love grandly.
Soft breezes and wildflowers,
and sunlight tickling my bare toes,
will no longer be enough for me.
The birds that sing to me will sing flatly,
their pitch skewed by a sweeter voice.
The throbbing scenes of a painting
won't touch my preoccupied heart.
I'll taste fresh, juicy peaches
that will turn rotten on my tongue
and ugly to my eyes.
All of this because a greater love will call me
and I will fall so deeply and so fully
that you will be my only light,
my only sweet,
my only hope.
The whole world will fade and go quiet
for you, my love.
You, my love.
You.
